Horse Lover's Getaway

Get away to someplace quiet and spend quality time with your horse and friends, on the trails and after riding! Happy Horse Hotel is only a 2 mile haul (we ferry you up and back so you don't have to unhook your rig) to the horse entrance at the Jewel of Texas Trail Riding, McKinney Roughs. Use the Happy Horse Hotel as base camp, ride the 13 miles of river and highland trails all day (discount tickets available), and instead of leaving, relax in style and comfort at the fabulous Happy Horse Hotel bungalow or bunkhouse. Spend a quiet night in the country listening to the coyotes howl, tending your horses, and ride the Roughs again the next day.

6 rig spaces with water and 30 amp hook ups, 20 pens, 2 covered stalls and several tent camping sites. Two non-smoking, no pet cabins with heat, a/c and kitchen facilities. The Bungalow sleeps 4, the Bunkhouse sleeps 3. Great beds with linen and dishes provided. Fire pits, unique privy and showers, BBQ grills, picnic tables and plenty of time with your horse.

If you're intersted in having the Happy Horse Camp Band play music at your campfire on Saturday night (weather permitting), drop Hollis a note. Usually it's just Hollis and Beaux but occasionally we have guest musicians sit in with us.

If you play an instrument, bring it! If you sing, join us!
 

 Beaux and Hollis joined fireside by guests Neil and Martha.
 
The expanded Hollis & Beaux duo plays at our BigRigsVille campsite, with local guest musicians D.B. Rouse, Patty Burke and John Warner Dunn sitting in to give us the big band sound.
